Enter a small hallway into an-open plan sitting/dining room.  The cottages are similarly furnished in a casual and comfortable style.  They aren’t flashy, but much care has been taken and good taste prevails.

The sitting/dining room has a comfortable red sofa and two red easy chairs facing a stone fireplace that has a wood stove insert.  A very nice armoire holds books and brochures with information about local attractions.  There is satellite TV.  The dining table seats 4 comfortably in front of a large window that overlooks the grounds.

The modern kitchen is bright and efficient.  It has pine cabinets, a granite counter top, an oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer.  French doors open onto a patio that has a dining table and chairs.  There is direct access accross the wide lawn to the lake.

Each cottage has two bedrooms.  One bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed, both iron and brass.  Pine cupboards provide excellent storage.  The en suite bathroom has a tub with shower over tub.

The second bedroom has twin beds, both brass, and excellent storage.  The en suite bathroom has a shower.

This is a newer renovation that perfectly complements the two older coach houses.  It is beautiful, serene, comfortable and stylish. Enter directly into the open-plan kitchen/sitting/dining room.  There is a cathedral ceiling with dark beams and a triangle window at each end of the room.  The sitting area has two red love seats, 2 easy chairs, a stone fireplace with a wood stove insert, satellite TV.  Four tall windows look onto the lake.  French doors open onto a patio area that faces the lake.  There is a barbecue and a picnic table and chairs on the patio.

The kitchen area has many pine cupboards and a tall pine armoire.  A bar with four tall stools is perfect for breakfast or a snack.  There is an oven, a hob, refrigerator/-freezer, microwave, washer and dryer.  Dishes and serving items are well-chosen.  The long cherry wood dining table seats 8 on black-upholstered high-back chairs.

One bedroom has an antique iron and brass queen bed that’s covered with a beautiful brown and tan wool patchwork quilt.  Other furniture provides excellent storage.  French doors open onto the pebbled driveway and the gardens and lawn.  The en suite bathroom has a shower that is adapted for wheel chair users – or anyone who needs stability bars.  It is tasteful and efficient.

The second bedroom also has an antique iron and brass queen bed.  It is covered with a brown and beige wool patchwork quilt that is similar to the quilt in the first bedroom.  Storage furniture is attractive.  This bed room also has a French door onto the graveled driveway and the lawn area.  The en suite bathroom has a shower.

Two more bedrooms are down the hall. One bedroom has a standard double bed plus a twin bed.  Both beds are covered in beige and cream cotton quilts.  A French door opens to the front.  The en suite bathroom has a shower.

Grounds

The grounds hardly seem to matter with the expanse of the ocean outside this Irish vacation rental, but there is a lovely side garden next to the house with grassy lawn with more of the wild blue sea beyond. From here there are steps down to a protected sandy cove below the house, with sandy and pebbled beach walks available from there.

Location

This vacation rental is in terrific position for touring County Clare, Limerick and Galway, perhaps parts of County Kerry and County Cork on a longer day (and  with some of the best scenery in Ireland, why not?).  The estate is positioned close to the Quin Abbey ruins, close to national treasures like the lunar landscapes of the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher. There are several 18-hole golf courses within half hours drive of the proprty. The gorgeous beaches of Clare and Galway are close, as is the River Shannon, all with boating, fishing and watersports to enjoy.
