The views through the large windows of this seaside vacation house are the real stars of the property, a former restaurant and B&B which is casually and tastefully decorated, and situated in a terrific and private beachfront location outside the lively town of Clifden. Professional kitchen, large common rooms, and ensuite bedrooms are the supporting actors in staging your perfect Irish holiday.  This house is terribly popular and books up quickly, especially for the high season, with families that return each year for annual waterfront retreats.

Two Sitting Rooms

Enter this single story house into a main entry hall with two wicker chairs and a table filled with information about the area and local activities. The main sitting room is situated to the left of the entry hall, with two armchairs, a large sofa and plenty of seating in the occasional chairs by the bay windows. There is an open stone fireplace, but you’ll want to have your back to it most of the time, taking in the spectacular views and stunning sunsets.

The larger living room opens to a smaller sitting room with a sofa, two chairs, games table, television and DVD and extra seating, across from large windows out to the sea. This room opens to the very large dining room.

Dining Room and Kitchen

The dining room and kitchen both herald back to the house’s former days as a restaurant B&B, with configurable tables that can move around to be many small dining spots or one long banquet table for large groups of up to 20. This room, too, is graced with large windows out to the gorgeous water.

The large professional kitchen is fully stocked and perfect for the gourmet in your party, or perhaps to invite a local chef to come prepare meals for the group (we can make several terrific recommendations for cooks in the area).  It is, of course, very accessible and easy for everyday meal preparation.

Small dining room & Additional Sitting Room

Adjacent to the large kitchen is a small dining area, great for early risers or early suppers.  Between the kitchen and the Master Bedroom is an additional sitting room with television, sofa, easy chair and fireplace. It’s a great place to sneak off for some quiet reading time, a private chat, or wonderful for stashing early rising kids to watch cartoons while waiting for everyone else to wake up!

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Eight bedrooms, seven of them are en suite and include the Queen master bedroom, a twin bedroom, a single bedroom with futon and five double bedrooms.

Bedrooms 1 & 2: Master Bedroom with Queen bed, rocking chair, bay windows, wardrobe, television and en suite bathroom with jacuzzi tub and shower stall.  Single bedroom with single futon for occasional guests, wardrobe, chest of drawers and adjacent private bathroom with deep soaking tub and shower-over-tub.

These two bedrooms are a bit separate from the others and perfect for a smaller family unit within a larger group. 

The additional six bedrooms, all en suite and two with water views, are down a long hallway past the entry hall.

Bedroom 3: Standard double bed, chest of drawers, closet and views to the water. The en suite bathroom has a tub and shower-over-tub.

Bedroom 4: Standard double bed, chest of drawers, small desk, closet and views to the water. The large en suite bathroom has a deep soaking tub and shower-over-tub.

Bedroom 5: Standard double bed, chest of drawers, recliner  chair and closet. The en suite bathroom has a deep soaking tub and shower-over-tub.

Bedroom 6: Standard double bed, chest of drawers, and closet. The large en suite bathroom has a shower stall.

Bedroom 7: Standard double bed, chest of drawers, small table and closet. The en suite bathroom has a tub and shower-over-tub.

Bedroom 8: Off the front hallway, this room has two twin beds, chest of drawers, closet and chair. The large en suite bathroom has a shower stall.

Grounds

The house sits on 11 acres of private grounds by the beach, with grassy hills, sandy beachfronts and gorgeous waterside landscapes. There is a large paved area for cars, as well as outdoor bar-b-ques, with picnics on the grass or down on the sand.

Location

This holiday property sits on 11 beachfront acres, very private and without close neighbors, about 6 miles outside of the charming and sophisticated village of Clifden. There is a tiny village of Calddaghduff about a mile and a half away with a church, shop, post office, pub and restaurant, but the easy 10-minute drive to Clifden on the lovely Sky Road makes it a snap to pop over to town for food, shopping, and entertainment. Cleggan is a few miles the other direction, with pubs, horseback riding and boat trips to Inishboffen.

Cleggan: 4 miles, 10 minutes
Galway: 50 miles, about an hour, and totally gorgeous.
Shannon airport: 106 miles, approximately 2.5 hours
Westport: 38 miles, 45 – 50 minutes of stunning beautiful scenery.
Dublin: 182 miles, just about 3.5 hours
