This sweet, charming, and comfortable thatched cottage offers up several of our requirements for a simply elegant holiday: it is an historical property, traditionally furnished with everything you need and nothing you don’t, very well priced and situated in a great location for walking to shops, pubs, restaurants and all the attractions of the local village.

An authentic Irish thatched house dating back to the early 1800s, the owner  of the cottage was raised along with his many siblings in this two-bedroom, and remembers when the main village road outside was just a quiet country road. It is perfect for families or small groups of close friends.

Main Room/Dining

Enter the cottage from the front garden into the main room that was once the primary space of the house. The room has a fireplace and a dining table that seats six, as well as additional seating next to the fire.

Small Sitting Room

To the left of the entry and the main room is the small sitting room, which used to be the bedroom of the owner’s parents when he was growing up. It is cozy, with a fireplace, television, small couch and easy chair, and windows looking out to the village High Street.

Kitchen and Bathroom

Behind the main room/dining room is the kitchen, with stove, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher & washer/dryer. It is well supplied with kitchen necessities and amenities.

There is a bathroom with shower stall in the corridor between the kitchen and the porch.

Bedrooms/Bathroom

Two very large bedrooms, each with a queen bed and a single bed. One room is yellow and one is pink. Both have small tables and a wardrobe.

The Yellow room has an ensuite bathroom with a shower cubicle.

NOTE: One must pass through the Pink room to reach the Yellow room and bathroom. This is why we suggest the house is best for families or close groups traveling together. 

Porch and Grounds

The house is the first in a thatched terrace row, on a corner lot with lovely gardens and a paved patio/porch area with stone table and a barbeque.

Location

The property lies just inside the village of Adare, on the High Street, next to the entrance of the Adare Manor Golf  Resort. It is perfectly walkable to all the shops and restaurants of the village, and an easy spot from which to base for touring the West of Ireland.
